Day 1: Favorite Doctor
Number 10. I love 4 and 11, but 10 really did it for me. Before I watched the new series 2-4, I was not that big of a whovian. 10 technically was not my first Doctor as I had watched 9 with my dad before, but David Tennant was able to portray the character so perfectly. He brought a new depth to the Doctor that had not been there before. The basic facts of the Doctor’s past were always there, but his character had never been so developed before, in my eyes.
David Tennant and Russell T Davies produced this multi-layered alien that, apart from being witty, funny, not ginger, and rude, was flawed and conflicted in his desires. The tenth Doctor also had the most complete story arc; he began as someone who just did not know who he was and was led by Rose into the world to someone doubting his entire power as a Time Lord.
He also had the best catchphrase. Every time I hear “Allons-y” in French class, I quietly whisper “Alonso”.
